Our aim is to ensure that every child in Melin Gruffydd has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential.
In order to facilitate this, we seek to create an atmosphere within school that allows all children to feel encouraged and respected and that any matters which arise are dealt with sympathetically.
We acknowledge that some children will require additional support in order that they may reach their full potential and our Family Engagement Officer is on hand to offer early and appropriate intervention to improve the attainment of those children who have social, emotional or behavioural needs. The Family Engagement Officer works closely with pupils and families in order to provide support and to encourage families to play an active part in their child’s education.

A number of different strategies are in place to support individuals including a homework club, raising self-esteem, helping with organisational skills and controlling anger or behaviour. Our Family Engagement Officer also works with specialist agencies which support children’s welfare, such as psychiatrists, the school nurse, Families First, Team Around the Family and Barnado’s.
It’s important to look after our emotional wellbeing. If you need support as an adult or for your family, there are many agencies available to help.
