I’m originally from Cardiff. I enjoy sports and being out in the open air going for walks, as a mother to two boys I have a lot of chances to enjoy a variety of these activities in my spare time!
BBC Cymru Competition – Aled Hughes Short Story
Aled Hughes’s program on BBC Radio Cymru presents a competition for the primary school pupils in years 5 and 6 across Wales.
“Aled Hughes Short Story” calls on pupils to write a short story of no more than 500 words on the theme “Christmas”.
The five winning stories will be performed by one of Wales’ celebrities and broadcast on BBC Radio Cymru between the 18th and the 22nd of December (with the consent of the pupil, parents / guardians and school).
Two Welsh children’s authors will browse through the stories and choose the best five stories. Remember – there can be any topic within the theme “Christmas” but the story must be fictional and there are five elements that are important to the stories:
The competition will be launched on the Aled Hughes program, on Monday 16th of October.
If you want to compete, your stories must be returned to school by 21/11/18
Please feel free to submit the final draft in your homework or typed workbooks. Save your work in your ‘Onedrive on Office 365 or in your J2e folder.
Safer Internet Day (SID) 2018 Competition
Safer Internet Day (SID) 2018 will take place on 6 February 2018 with the slogan ‘Create, connect and share respect’.
SID is a global celebration of the opportunities the internet has to offer and a day to open a conversation about how the internet can affect everyone, from children and young people to older generations.
What does the competition in 2018 involve?
The Welsh Government SID competition in 2018 asks children and young people to explore how being online makes you feel in one of four categories:
Your entry must be an original creation from beginning to end. Entries can be in either Welsh, English or both.
Be as imaginative, inventive, original and open as you want – and try to show with a poem, a short film, a piece of music or a painting of how you may sometimes feel when you are gaming, talking to friends online or watching a video. Here are some ideas for each type of entry:
Word – This could be a poem or a short story. (Maximum word count: 500 words)
Film – An eager Spielberg? This can be an animation, something you filmed on your phone or a movie you have made with your friends. (Maximum time limit: 5 minutes)
Music – An aspiring Adele? You can write and perform a song, your own piece of music or do a rap. (Maximum time limit: 5 minutes)
